Public Biography | Susan Metsker is a person passionate about people and public service. Her personal mission statement is to “Serve Others Gladly”. She holds an undergraduate degree in public administration, as well as a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Kansas – focusing on leadership and public service. Susan’s publicly elected service began in 1992 and in 1999 she was elected to the Board of Education USD512 and served 3, 4-year terms. As well, Susan has served as a Republican Precinct Committee Woman for years. Susan has served in various community capacities in areas of strategic planning, community development, curriculum development, and early childhood education. She is an appointed member of the Johnson County Advisory Committee on Housing and Community Development. She is a member of the board of Inclusion Connections – a nonprofit serving individuals with developmental disabilities. A founding member of the KFRW Starlight Republican Women and a graduate of the Eisenhower Women’s Leadership Series, class of 2008. She and her husband are active in their church. During Congressman Kevin Yoder’s time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Susan served in the District Office as District Representative. Currently she serves in the Olathe District Office of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran as District Representative. Susan also has experience in non-profit development. Next to Jesus, Susan’s greatest love is doing life with her husband of 45 years; their three adult children, two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law and four grandchildren ages 6-13. Together they enjoy gardening, reading, hospitality, cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, and evenings with the KC Symphony and the KC Jazz Orchestra.
