Karen Perez

Karen was born and raised in San Bernardino, California. Her family relocated to Topeka, Kansas in 1992, due to the closure of the Santa Fe Railway Company shops, where her father worked. She met her husband, Larry, also a railroader, in Topeka. Over the last 20 years they have moved to different areas in the Southwest along the BNSF routes.  During this time, Karen has worked in various industries, from state service to financial institutions and health care, all while supporting CEOs, Board of Directors, Senior Managers and Executives in their roles. The key to Karen’s success has been her ability to learn and adapt each time she started a new chapter of her career.  Karen currently serves as the Executive Assistant to Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt.  She and Larry have been married for 25 years and have two grown children.
