Heather Kobach was born and raised in Fairbury, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska—Lincoln, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Systems Engineering. She came to Kansas to pursue her engineering career in the Kansas City area working for Black & Veatch. She spent two years working in the Black & Veatch Maryland office, and then returned to the Kansas City office, where she worked until the birth of her second child.
Heather is married to Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach. They have five girls: Lilly, Reagan, Molly, Charlie, and Josie. They live on a small farm near the town of Lecompton, Kansas. Heather enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking and turkey hunting. She also enjoys knitting and other fiber arts.
