April Barker

April Davisson Barker moved to Manhattan Kansas in 1981 from Livornio Italy where she taught for the DODDS program. She received her master’s degree from Kansas State University in Consumer and Family Economics. April was a financial advisor for 35 years with Waddell & Reed Inc. She currently enjoys being retired. She loves to travel and spend time on the beach. April is married to John E Barker and they have two children (John and Jessica) and three grandchildren ( S.J., Jaxon and Gia). During the past 10 years she has been very active with the Kansas Legislative Spouses group and serves as their representative on the “Happy Birthday Kansas” Student Photo Contest. April also volunteers with Meals on Wheels, Abilene Community Meal and serves on the session at the Abilene Presbyterian Church. She is a member of the Abilene Chapter KS Daughters of the American Revolution, Abilene Republican Women, The Abilene Rotary Club and Faux Ro.
